Limiti e regole 3 6But he is so small and already must feel limited? What if he experiences a trauma?

We often hear this from parents ... and so I ask you: but to walk, did he not learn by steps: first to crawl, then the first steps, falling and getting up again and again ... until he could run.
And tell me: in your opinion, could he run without going through the intermediate steps?
I think not.
This example is to say that training in small steps is necessary to reach the final goal.
And the same goes for limits: life imposes limits on us and there are rules of social coexistence to be respected: learning to accept limits and rules requires training, from an early age.

The rules that parents give to their children serve to the children themselves as a boundary within which to move; they serve to understand how one relates to others, what the possible spaces are for the actions of each individual (whether adult or child).
Children have an extreme need to know in a clear and defined manner (albeit modifiable over time), what the boundaries of their actions are ... they are not yet able to self-regulate!
And the rules must be set by parents, agreed between adults and enforced by both, firmly and determinedly.
