The general indication of paediatricians is that, for an unimpaired, normal-weight and regularly growing baby, an interval of a minimum of 2.5 hours up to a maximum of 4 hours between meals is adequate.
In the first months of life, the best nutrition for a newborn baby is breast milk, whenever it is available, or formulated milk. The World Health Organisation (WHO) itself recommends exclusive breastfeeding up to the age of 6 months.
